Late war zinc example by Weidmann, marked on reverse, excellent condition.The badge was instituted on 10 January 1941. It was awarded on a point basis,with 16 being the necessary required. Batteries successful in downing an aircraft were awarded four points when the action was without the support of other Batteries, and two points when it was a joint effort. Requirements were modified as the war progressed, and badge was awarded following five air defense actions that proved to be unsuccessful (no aircraft downed) and after three actions where an aircraft was downed.
